Truthfully Speaking
i saw an incredible movie last night. no doubt, al gore is on the campaign trail once again, but good for him. it’s embarassing that he has not been our president, but that is another story. really what i want to talk about is his new film, "an inconvenient truth."
i used to consider myself a fairly conscious individual when it came to the social issues. but after watching this film, i was shamefully humbled. the statistics are staggering. and what is even more compelling is the visuals of dried lake beds, giant glaciers crumbling, mountaintops with no snow on them…the list goes on and on. thanks to al gore, we have access to information the public was not allowed to know before. and bringing awareness to environmental issues is something mr. gore’s been working on since the 70s.
there is so much more to do. we are throwing away our planet as we know it all so that oil tycoons can stay rich. there is no reason to resist change especially when there is so much to gain from being respectful of such a delicate ecosystem we live in. the environmental, social and economic advantages of being green are enormous.
please please please go see the movie. sign the petitions. talk to your local government. demand electric cars and recycling bins in your neighborhood. take action.
Hey…interesting blog you got going here. I havent seen that movie that you are talking about but thats exactly what we are doing. Last weekend, I was at Bangalore and the place is gone to the dogs. The traffic congestion and the pollution has killed the once called ” pensioners paradise”. Correspondingly, you see tons of glittering buildings, tranform the place into a concrete village…I love my Bangalore the way it used to be ten years before.
hey shumit
the harm we’re doing to our ecosystem is a sad byproduct of the economic surge we are having back home in india. sometimes when i’m traveling, i think..where do we start? politicians, grass roots, ngos? maybe all at once is the answer. so here in LA, i’ve started at home - getting more aware, doing little things (carpooling, recycling, being energy conscious). perhaps that’s a start…
Hey Shaheen,
Where did you see the flick? I just moved to Mumbai from the Bay Area and was looking for a theater in town that was playing Gore’s movie. I’ve heard it’s incredible - can’t wait to see it. Keep writing. Faith.
hey deap..
i saw the movie down south in santa monica. i did a quick search and it’s playing at 8 theaters in the bay area. i used to live in san fran and it’s playing at the embarcadero. hope you get a chance to see it. definitely tell me what you think. it definitely is incredible!
