this is a couple of days late.  for that i apologize.  but…damn folks.  HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!  may 2006 be filled with lots of love, adventure and peace for you all. 

here at casa azadi music, we’re working on getting my ass on tour.  not that i’m particularly looking forward to riding in a smelly van on bumpy roads, but i sure will have some good stories to tell you. 

i know this jewish woman.  she runs a dance company here in LA and i had a chance to be in one of her productions a couple of years ago.  she’s the kind of woman whose every movement, every syllable of every word exudes history and experience.  i often told her that i was going to go over to her house and sit at her feet just to listen to all her stories, as i was initially intrigued by her telling me of the time when she was in her young 20s and walked the partition route from pakistan to india.  a product of the 60’s free love era, she lives life with an open heart and mind, and now has such incredible wisdom and a compassionate worldview. 

it’s my hope that 2006 offers me this type of compelling experience.  the kind that i can tell my grandkids one day, insha allah.  for those of you who want this same travel, i pray for that for you as well.  happy new year!
